This article is a follow up to the previous article entitled God’s Second Commandment- REMOVED”. As discussed in that article, the Beast/Antichrist system was successful in changing God’s times and God’s laws. As you saw in that article, God’s laws were changed in that the second commandment was removed completely from observance by the Catholic Church around the fourth century AD. The Protestant Churches for the most part continued in this change, not turning to the true commandment of God. That being said, they were also successful in changing God’s times. How did they do this? They changed the calendar completely to a fixed week system based on the sun (the Gregorian Calendar), which changed the original Sabbath day observance, and they also removed completely the observance of God’s holy days. The true fourth commandment reads:
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” ~ Exodus 20
To understand how the times were changed, we have to look at the calendar that was given to the Ancient Jewish people by God. This was a calendar that used the moon to mark its months and weeks, and the sun to mark its years. God’s original calendar was tied to His creation. In Genesis we can read:
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.” ~ Genesis 1:14-15
These time markers were given by God himself to be used by men. The biblical and historic record shows that the conjunction of the moon marked the beginning of every month, and was a reset for the count of weeks. We encourage you to study in depth on this. Details and historic documentation can be found on the “God’s Calendar” page of this site. What other times were changed? God’s holy days, the seven feasts of Leviticus 23 were completely removed from Christianity by the Catholic Church, and they were replaced by Christmas, Palm Sunday, and Easter. If you diligently study the history of these Catholic holidays, you will see that they were not established by Christ, nor were they established by the first Apostles. They have their root in Ancient Babylonian paganism. The biblical record shows the first Christians being obedient to God’s original holy days, Gentiles included. Evidence of this can be found in Colossians 2, where Paul is speaking to the Gentile congregation there:
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” ~ Colossians 2:8-17
The original feasts of God included the Seventh Day Sabbath, the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened, the Day of Firstfruits, Pentecost (Feast of Weeks), the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. These can be found in Leviticus 23, and were celebrated by the first Christians, both Jew and Gentile as evidenced in the New Testament. The New Moon was also celebrated by God’s people, representing the beginning of a new month, and also requiring sacrifices of the people. All of these things remain a part of God’s times today, yet most of the world has forgotten the teachings of Jesus and the original Apostles. God does not change. The final test to come upon mankind is a test of obedience- those who obey God’s times and laws will receive his seal, those who obey the times and laws of Satan receive the Mark of the Beast. I pray that you will prayerfully study these things, so that you can show yourselves approved before God, a worker rightly dividing the word of the truth. I hope this helps in you studies.
