What is sound doctrine today?  Does sound doctrine mean- it feels right so it must be true?  Does sound doctrine mean- it makes me feel good so it must be true?  Today there are so many doctrines out there, that it is difficult for many to discern what is truth, and what is fiction.  What is good and what is evil.  Many eastern religions sound very good to the ear, even as sweat as honey, yet what is their basis?  Many doctrines that currently exist in various Christian churches also sound as sweet as honey, yet are they all accurate?

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” ~ 2 Timothy 4:2-4

Can opposing doctrines all be truth?  The obvious answer is that this is impossible.  The existence of thousands of different doctrines today is proof that all the world has been deceived in some way.  While there can be millions of different perceptions, there will always remain one truth.  One man says the apple is blue, another says it is orange, another says purple.  At the end of the day it is red, and in truth, the apple is red.  One man says Yeshua/Jesus was a prophet, one man says he was a wise man, and another says he was a nobody.  At the end of the day, He was the Son of God, the Word made flesh, the way, the truth, and the life.  One can only know this truth if the Holy Spirit- the very spirit of the living God/Yahweh himself reveals it:

“Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” ~ 1 Corinthians 12:3

There are many winds of doctrine today.  These winds of doctrine have blown men back and forth between many different belief systems.  Even within Christianity, there are a multitude of divisions on what is truth.  One Christian leader says one thing, another gives different meaning.  How can we as individuals know truth?  How can we as individuals identify the deceivers from the servants of the one and only true God?  To identify those that have knowingly or unknowingly decieved, ask yourself:

  • Does my leader claim to be a prophet but remains untested? Yes= Caution
  • Does my leader claim to be Yeshua’s/Jesus’ one and only representative/ambassador on this earth? Yes= Caution
  • Does my leader or advisor instruct me to listen to them only? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader claim to hold “hidden” truths that can only be taught by them? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader claim that they alone possess the spirit of truth? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader even obey the commandments of Yahweh/God? No=Caution
  • Does my leader claim that these commandments of God are irrelevant? Yes=Caution
  • Do I rely on a “man” to enlighten me with a Word from the Holy Spirit? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader harp on “tithing” constantly in their speech or are they constantly fundraising in God’s name? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader claim to be the “authority” on truth today? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader or advisor tell me that I can only understand truth through them? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader allow me to openly question them on doctrine? No=Caution
  • Does my leader constantly preach feel good, or prosperity teachings? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader put into practice the teachings of Moses, the prophets, Yeshua and the Apostles? No=Caution
  • Is my leader well liked and admired by the majority of average people? Yes=Caution
  • Is my leader theatrical seeking to entertain in their deliverance of a sermon? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader acquire vast earthly wealth and riches by leading me, or do you even know? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader instruct me to read and study the Bible prayerfully for myself to find answers free from their guidance? No=Caution
  • Does my leader profess that though I may have the Holy Spirit myself, I still require their influence to lead me into all understanding? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader use the excuse “times have changed” to discount biblical teachings? Yes=Caution
  • Does my leader blatantly contradict the teachings of the scriptures on one or multiple points? Yes=Caution

These questions highlight warning signs which may help to identify false teachers.  Realize, many false teachers remain unaware that they are false teachers, and rather have continued in false doctrines that have been passed to them from generation to generation over the span of centuries. Also realize, no servant of Yahweh will contradict His never changing Word found in scripture, both OT and NT.  No servant of Yahweh will seek earthly riches, claim superiority to their fellow man, disobey God’s commandments wilfully, or disregard the biblical account.  One man is no better or worse than another.  Chances are, if to this very day you have never read the Bible and considered ALL of it’s writings for yourself independently, you have been falsly led.

The servants of Yahweh are not in this world to direct us in every small decision of life.  They are not here to tell us how to think.  They are not here for our entertainment, or to make us feel good about our sins. They are not here to be our main source of guidance.  They are not here to bring us “enlightenment” or to lead in worshipping the universe.  They are not here to unite all people and all religions with a blending of beliefs, on the contrary their mission is to bring the one and only message of truth (Yeshua- the truth, the way and the life) to the inhabitants of this fallen world in love. They are here to point us to the Word of God to direct our paths.  They are willing to teach, but they instruct the learner to read the Bible for themselves prayerfully to understand its message.  They are here to point us to a direct relationship with our Creator through Yeshua (the Word made flesh) and the never changing Word that can be found in scripture.  They are here with a message of repentance.  They are here to plant seeds of obedience.  Because of this difficult message of repentance and change towards obedience to God, they are usually unpopular, shunned, and thought to be fools (as has been the case for God’s servants throughout history) working to live according to what men feel are “unnecessary” burdens.  They are led only by Yeshua through the Holy Spirit and knowledge of the Word.  They obey God rather than obeying men.  They do many good deeds in secret, not to be seen and praised by their peers. They are here to care for the hungry, the sick, the imprisoned and afflicted, the elderly, the orphan and the widow.  They value genuine kindness, gentleness, goodness, faith, love, joy, hope, longsuffering and self control. They are here to be the servants, not the served.  They are here to be a light in actions far more than words.  They are obedient to Yahweh through faith in Yeshua (Jesus).  They don’t seek earthly riches, fame, or position, rather they speak the truth even though it is unpopular and persecuted.  They carry no judgment for their neighbor (including the false teacher), and live to extend love and truth to every human being.  They mirror the image of the one and only Creator, by walking in the image of the Son Yeshua and in His footsteps of obedience to Yahweh’s commandments out of true love for Yahweh, and for their neighbor.  They aren’t interested in the things that this world offers, rather they have set their sights on things that are not seen, higher things, the things of heaven.

If you have a spiritual leader today other than Yeshua (Jesus Christ) himself, we caution you.  No leader that exists on the earth today possesses the way, the truth or the life in and of themselves.  The way can only be found in Yeshua, the Son of God/Yahweh and through His Word.  Forgiveness can only be found in Yeshua.  The teachings of Yeshua are easy to be understood and can be found in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John of the New Testament.  Study them prayerfully.  The Apostles of the NT echoed His teachings and walked in His footsteps.  The Apostles and prophets also instructed the people to study the scriptures and search them, to rightly divide the word of the truth.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” ~ 2 Timothy 2:15-16

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” ~ Acts 17:11

Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.” ~ Isaiah 34:16

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” ~ 2 Timothy 3:15-17

The Apostles and prophets didn’t claim that the truth was only found in their speech.  Paul even taught the people, NO MAN is above what is written (referring to the OT writings that were available at the time).

“And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.” ~ 1 Corinthians 4:6

The prophet Hosea and the prophet Isaiah mentioned- men are destroyed because of their lack of knowledge:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” ~ Hosea 4:6

“Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” ~ Isaiah 5:13

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” ~ Isaiah 8:20

We encourage you to seek Yahweh with all of your heart, and prayerfully read His Word that is unchanging.

“For I am the Lord, I change not.” ~ Malachi 3:6

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ~ James 1:17

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” ~ Hebrews 13:8

“My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. ~ Psalm 89:34

Don’t take any man’s word for it- these times are full of deception and darkness.  There is only one source of “sound doctrine” today, and it can be found in the holy scriptures- the Bible.  It hasn’t changed, men have.  The Bible is available for all to read and study independently.  It reads as a story that unfolds throughout many centuries.  It contains the history of the earth, the history of man, and the future to come- the beginning and the ending.  If you use these free bible study resources available on this website, we encourage, and we even beg that you deeply and prayfully study the bible texts for yourself, so that you establish a connection with the Creator directly through Yeshua, and so that He leads you into the one and only way, truth and life.
