Who am I? Why am I here? What is this life all about? These questions resonate in every human being at some point in this experience we know of as “life.” Some go to great lengths to find the answers to these questions, and are constantly tormented by not understanding what life is all about. Some find temporary relief in finding a faith in science, the wisdom of man. Many bounce from problem to problem, sickness to sickness, poverty to riches and back to poverty, happiness to depression, and from doing good to doing evil. Why this experience, why suffering, why sickness, why death, why sadness and depression? Every human being, no matter the background, ‘religious indoctrination,’ race, nationality or disposition will at one time or another come to the realization, that we as human beings are born into this world severely FALLEN:
Sons & Daughters of Satan
“Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” ~ John 8:42-47
“Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.“ ~ Matthew 16:22-23
“But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?” ~ Acts 13:8-10
“Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” ~ 1 John 3:7-8
As we are born into this fleshly existence on earth, our father is the devil, Satan, Lucifer. The Apostle John tells us that “he that committeth sin is of the devil.” Apostle John also tells us that “ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Jesus tells us that those that do not hear His words are of their father, the devil. Adam, the first fleshly man fell to sin when he succumbed to the temptation of Satan through Eve. He obeyed the temptation of Satan, rather than continuing in obedience to the commandment of God. Satan became Adam’s father because of this sin, and we are now born of his seed into death:
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.“ ~ Romans 5:12-14
We can see that Satan has a “Spirit” influence over all of mankind that enters into this fleshly existence:
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” ~ Ephesians 2:1-3
Paul calls it “the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.” We can find in scriputre that there are two different “Spirits” of influence at work in the world today. The “Holy Spirit” which is of God, and also this other “Spirit” that works in the children of disobedience. We can deduce that the “Spirit” of the “prince of the power of the air,” is the spirit of Satan, or the Devil. It is a sin spirit, a sin nature. We are born into this world already in need of reconciliation to God from our very first breath. Sin comes naturally to any child as they begin to make behavior decisions. Ask any parent if their child never requires correction- and I’m confident you will not find a single case of a perfect sinless child. When we are born into this world, Satan is our father. The same spirit that Satan possessed which led him to revolt against God and eventually become “Fallen” from heaven as he was cast out along with his angels, is the spirit that reigns in every newborn human being. It is a fallen spirit- fallen from righteousness, fallen from grace, fallen from heaven.
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” ~ Revelation 12:7-9
The hardest thing for many human beings today to come to terms with is that we are ALL born fallen, from our first breath on this earth. We ALL have had sin within us up until some point (that point being the rebirth in the Holy Spirit). It is difficult for many to look in the mirror and admit- ‘I am fallen, evil, sinful, arrogant, vain, sexually promiscuous, a liar, disrespectful to my parents, self absorbed, covetous of everything everyone has, a lover of money and prestige, idolatrous, a back biter, a gossip, a partier, an alcoholic or drug addict, an adulterer, lustful, indifferent towards my neighbor, unloving, mean, full of hatred, and the list could go on. These are difficult things to come to terms with. These are all things of our original father, the devil/Satan. Try to get someone to admit that their father is Satan and you might get yourself slapped this day and age. Many can’t fathom such a thing, even though their lives are riddled with sin. Jesus himself told us, that if we do not hear his voice and heed his words, we are of our father, the devil.
Think about something: If we were born into this world in our current flesh with the seed of God, then why would we need to be reborn? Wouldn’t we already be of the seed of God? The entire purpose for rebirth, is due to the fact that our original birth into this world comes by the seed of our original father, Satan. Because of this, we ALL were prisoners to sin prior to our rebirth. We couldn’t stop sinning, even if we wanted to. If you desire to know who your father is today- ask yourself “Am I a prisoner to sin?” If the answer is “Yes” and you are a prisoner to any type of sin, than your father remains to be Satan. You will not hear the truth or the teachings of Christ, nor will you understand them if your father is Satan. I know this is a difficult statement to take in, but it is truth.
For this reason, Christ had to die on the cross for us. We were/are fallen and we are born of the seed of Satan/Adam. We are born enemies of Christ and God. Christ died not so that he could improve on what was already established in our flesh, rather he died so that our former life could be destroyed along with the sins of it! He died so that we could be made into a NEW CREATION, not to fix the old creation.
The New Creation/The Rebirth
Before becoming reborn into the new creation, we first have to die, killing off the old man/old creation! This may be confusing to you, but it is true:
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” ~ John 3:5-7
“In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;” ~ Colossians 2:11-13
We kill off the old man of sin only through baptism. This is a three fold process first involving repentance for our sin. In other words, we have to LOOK IN THE MIRROR, and confess to God “I am fallen, evil, sinful, arrogant, vain, sexually promiscuous, a liar, disrespectful to my parents, self absorbed, covetous of everything everyone has, a lover of money and prestige, idolatrous, a back biter, a gossip, a partier, an alcoholic or drug addict, an adulterer, lustful, indifferent towards my neighbor, unloving, mean, full of hatred, a prisoner to sin!” We have to acknowledge who we truly are- sons of Satan, sons of disobedience. To take it a step further, the first step to baptism requires REPENTANCE FOR SIN! As we look at ourselves and acknowledge our fallen nature, we must have a change of heart and change of mind towards obedience to God. This is repentance. It is a complete 180 degree shift in your mind and way of thinking. This is the first step to killing off the person that was born into this world as a child of Satan. Realize that in your fallen condition- you need the Savior, the Messiah Jesus/Yeshua. You will not live without him, nor will you have any salvation. He took your and my sin upon his shoulders to the cross, so that we can today have access to true LIFE in the Holy Spirit. Once we’ve killed the old man by repentance in this first step to rebirth, we must bury our sinful flesh as we read above in Colossians. The sinful body is dead, and to let it remain causes it to stink. We have to bury it because it is dead. How do we do this? This is accomplished through water baptism where we dunk our bodies under water (representing our death and burial), and we come out of the water being washed clean of all of that sin that we confessed and repented of. We rise out of the water into a new creation, washed, clean, risen into new life in Christ. This is the second step to the rebirth, but it doesn’t end there. Once dead, buried, and risen, we are given the third step to baptism: receiving the new seed of God- the HOLY SPIRIT. This replaces the old seed of Satan and Adam, the seed of disobedience. It brings with it the fullness of new life in Christ, and it brings with it power, gifts, tongues, prophecy, healing, revelation, direct teaching from God, and companionship with God. The reborn believer receives the SEED OF GOD/HOLY SPIRIT! We are transformed from our former life as “sinners” to new life as “holy saints!”
“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” ~ 1 John 3:4-10
Child of Satan, Or Child of God?
So we can see that our original condition is always as a child of Satan, a sinner, a prisoner to the sins of this flesh. This over time became our identity as we were ruled by the spirit of Satan, the fallen nature. Those that haven’t been reborn typically refer to themselves as “sinners,” some even boasting in this. Many religious Christians today take pride in making sure everyone knows that they are a “sinner” implying some form of self humility. They make it their identity not realizing that a sinner is a son or daughter of Satan. These are guided by his spirit, and continue in their lives of sin. The results of sin in our lives are devastating- leading to anger, hatred, bitterness, sickness, disease, depression, addiction, and ultimately death. This is the life of a sinner. This is the life of the sons and daughters of Satan. This is why countless human beings end up asking the questions “Why am I here?” or “Who am I?” There is so much sorrow and sadness in a life ruled by the spirit of Satan. He lies to mankind, makes many empty promises, and in the end leaves many desperate, despondent, sick, diseased, in pain, hopeless, and godless regardless of wealth or status in society. Satan will give you the illusion of life, but really his ways lead to death.
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;” ~ Colossians 2:13
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” ~ Ephesians 2:1-2
If you haven’t been reborn, you are dead in your sins. You are a child of Satan. Your life is ruled by his fallen spirit. As Jesus said, if you desire to be in the Kingdom of Heaven- YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN! With the rebirth comes a complete change in identity. You once found your identity in sin. In your rebirth, your identity is now “SAINT.” Remember in all of the letters of the Apostles, they wrote to the “Saints of Colossia” or the “Saints of Ephesia,” not the “Sinners.” The reborn believer’s identity is no longer in Satan, as they’ve killed their flesh in the baptism. They now have a new seed, the seed of God. Because of this, their identity is now in God and Jesus. Their life transforms as Jesus breaks their chains to sin, and they are freed to walk in obedience to God- no longer as sinners but rather saints. We as reborn believer’s are dead, and now Christ lives in us:
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” ~ Galatians 2:20
Ask yourself today- “Am I a sinner, or am I a saint?” If you find that you are living a life of sin, YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN to receive life. You must go through the three step process of rebirth! Please note: The practice of baptizing infants is foreign to the word of God, as a baby cannot consciously repent for sin. If you were baptized as a baby and you find yourself living a life of sin- you must be reborn! I’m telling you the truth from the lips of Yeshua/Jesus Himself.
“There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” ~ Luke 13:1-5
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” ~ Mark 16:16
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” ~ Acts 2:38
The first step to discovering new life in Christ Jesus, is honestly asking yourself “Am I a sinner, or am I a saint?” Be honest and truthful. If you are a sinner- REPENT and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins, and then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, the new Seed of God- becoming a new creation that no longer is a prisoner to sin, but rather a servant of righteousness. This is a transformation from death to life in Christ! Along with this, comes the power of the Holy Spirit as Christ lives in and through you, and you become a part of His body. You will do things you have never dreamed of in Christ:
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.” ~ Mark 16:17-19
This is true for every born again believer! Along with your freedom from sin, you will be healed of your sickness and disease, and you will also be able to spread the gospel with power. When you get to the point that you are reborn in Christ, and you’ve received the Seed of God, not only will you no longer continue in sin wilfully, but you will also never again have to ask “Who am I?” or “Why am I here?” You will know. The truth shall set you free!
