THE ACTUAL 10 COMMANDMENTS OF SCRIPTURE-EXODUS 20
And God spake all these words, saying,
I. I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. (Removed by the Catholic Church in 300’s AD)
III. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
IV. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. (Changed to Sunday by the Emperor Constantine/Catholic Church 300’s AD- historic record shows a complete changing of the original biblical Lunar Calendar by the empire of Rome. The early Jewish and Gentile Christian churches honored either a biblical Lunar Sabbath, or a Saturday Sabbath up until this point, when Rome declared it illegal to worship on the Lunar or Saturday Sabbath, leading to the persecution, murder and martyring of an estimated 80 million Sabbath keeping Christians)
V. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
VI. Thou shalt not kill.
VII. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
VIII. Thou shalt not steal
IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
X. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s. (Split into two commandments by the Catholic Church in 300’s AD, to make up for removing the second commandment)
“My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.” ~ Psalms 89:34
COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS- MATTHEW 22:37-40
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
I. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. (Represents the condition of the heart required to obey God’s Commandments 1-4- See Deuteronomy 30:16 & 1 John 5:3)
II. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (Represents the condition of the heart required to obey God’s Commandments 5-10- See Romans 13:8-10)
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.- Jesus likens His commandments to the law of the Old Testament, the original 10 commandments. In this statement Jesus didn’t indicate that God’s commandments had passed away, rather he indicates what condition our heart must be in to fulfill God’s law because in His own words: “on these two commandments hang all the law“.
